Highlights. Onam is a 10-day harvest festival of Kerala. It celebrates the homecoming of the mythical King Mahabali. The highlight of the festival is an elaborate meal called Onam Sadhya.

The celebration is to remember the golden rule of Mahabali, a mythical king who ruled kerala. They sent Lord Vishnu to earth in the form of a dwarf Brahmin. who trampled Mahabali to the netherworld.

Vamanan asked Mahabali for three feet of land as his wish from the generous Mahabali. In the first two feet Vamana measured the entire universe ,making his third feet nowhere to place.
